Introduction: The industrial education units of career and technology studies (CTS) at the junior high level provide the opportunity for the student to discover explore, reason, and experiment and with some of the technologies of the society in which they live. The industrial education program is offered in all grade levels and is co-educational.

Grade 7 - Industrial Education The grade 7 industrial education program at John Ware consists of activities that provide a continuum of exploratory experiences. Introductory units in the areas of:
1. graphic communication (drafting, sign press, commercial art and photography techniques).
2. materials technology (woods, metals, plastic, tool/machine safety and operation, leather).
3. problem solving techniques. (design and build a solution to an assigned problem
Students must pay for the materials they use, the current shop fee is $13.00.

Grade 8
Advanced units in the area of:
1. graphic communication includes drafting, design fundamentals, photography, silk-screen printing and button making.
2. power technology includes introductory units in model rocketry, electric circuits and electronic components.
3. materials technology offers units in wood, metal, plastic, tool/machine safety and operation, and leather.
Students must pay for the materials they use, the present fee for grade 8 is $19.00.

Grade 9
Advanced woodwork forms the basis of the Grade 9 industrial education program. Course work will be drafting, design studies, photo-process silkscreening, tool/machine safety and operation. Additional units will include adhesives, abrasives, fasteners and finishes.
The grade 9 shop fee structure is based on a deposit principle rather than a student fee. Students make a variety of individual projects with different material costs and subsequently a deposit is required. When students spend more than the initial deposit, an additional fee will be assessed.
The initial deposit is $23.00.
